Building Information Modeling

Building Information Modeling (also abbreviated BIM) is the process using specialized software to create a building model. The model is used by the project team, including clients & contractors, to visualize the end product and make informed decisions about the project during design and through construction.

As a client of MGA, you will see many benefits in our use of the technology available through BIM software, including:

  • 3D Modeling of your building, inside and out - you will understand what you are getting
  • Walk-through - a computer-generated real time stroll through your building as if you are there
  • Bird's eye view of your floor plan - you can see complicated spatial relationships between functions and departments
  • Sun lighting and shading studies - see how the placement of glass and overhangs affects your working environment
  • Conflict avoidance: Structural systems integration with mechanical, electrical and plumbing

At MGA we have been using BIM in practice for over 10 years and have completed over 200 projects using BIM software. Our clients understand the value of knowing exactly what they are getting for their money, and many opt to have us provide greater detail for their understanding, knowing that the small additional cost and time required will pay off. Their building will be constructed with fewer changes, more quickly and many times for less cost, because the contractor can visualize the project more clearly.

Web Based Collaboration

MGA hosts a project based online collaboration website which affords high visibility of issue tracking, events, task assignments, and contact management from a central location.

Online collaboration is available to all parties involved in the building design and construction process including building owners, consulting engineers, vendors, General Contractors, etc. Project progress can be tracked, Submittals can be tracked, tasks can be assigned, photos and large files can be shared, and urgent items can be identified so that we work together as a team.

Communicate with the team in a friendly and an easy to use environment. Discuss and comment, receive email notifications, stay in touch. Everything is saved and available for future reference.

When a project is completed the entire project site containing all drawings, photos, discussions, etc. can be archived to DVD and provided to you for future reference.
